2-20-10

I had Eric, Todd, and Craig back with me again today and boy did we have a good time. After being off of the water for a few weeks, it sure felt good to be back out there. The reports lately have been poor and I told them not to come because it had been so slow but they wouldn't take no for an answer and now I am glad that they wouldn't. I went out Fri. evening to catch bait and do a little scouting with the electronics and saw some encouraging signs. I told them to meet me at 6:00 so we could get an early start and that is what we did. We left out in the dark and went by GPS to the spot that I had marked the previous afternoon and no sooner than I got all of the rods out, we had a fish on. To make a long story short, they filled the box in less than one hour. They boated 30 fish weighing in at 402 pounds for the day and released 214 pounds of fish unharmed. They have another trip planned in May and I can only hope that it will be half as good as today was.

2-7-10

My family and I just got back from Ghenton W.V. on a snow skiing trip and we had a ball except for having to dig my way out of the drive on Sun. morning. No one got hurt so I guess it could be considered a success. I didn't fish this weekend and from the reports that came in, I am glad that I didn't. The rains continue along with the wind and cold weather. This is one of the worse winters that I have ever seen for our fishing here on Santee Cooper. I had Mr. Bobby Hamm coming in this weekend and he canceled because he is buying a new house and I am glad that he cancelled. They are calling for up to 3 inches of snow here on Fri. night with 20 mph. winds again on Sat. I just pray that Spring time will be good to us because the winter has produced some slow fishing. Sure not what we are acustomed to here for this time of year. I will be back on the water next Sat and Sun. so I will let you all know how we do. I think that if the rains ever slow down and the water clears a little that the fishing will improve.
